Municipal Buildings

This elegant design solution began as a simple infill project to provide elevator access to two adjacent historic buildings in downtown Ypsilanti, Michigan. Even though the design was only 14 feet wide, it turned out to be extremely complicated because of the many floor levels which needed to be connected in the two adjacent properties. Designed as a glass “jewel”, with its own unique personality, located between existing historic buildings, this infill building was designed to relate to both while not taking away from neither.
